| Anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence also called Gauge/Gravity duality or Maldacena duality,which is one of the most significant results of string theory over the past few years,tells us that with AdS boundary conditions,string theory(which includes grav:ity)is completely equivalent to a(non-gravitational)gauge theory living on the boundary at infinity,and at the same time,it fur-ther suggests that general relativity can describe not only gravitational phenomena(black holes,gravitational red-shift,gravitational waves,etc.)but also other non-gravitational phenonena,including those in condensed matter physics such as Hall effect,Nernst eflFect,superconductivity and negative refraction.In this thesis,we construct the generalized holographic superconducting system with Borm-Infeld electrodynamics which can have a negative refractive index.We will work in a limit in which the Maxwell field and the scalar field do not back-react on the metric.Then we use Born-Infeld electrodynarmics to lower the dissipation effects and explore the effect of the Born-lnfeld electrodynamics on the optical prop-erties of strongly coupled field theories,and research the influence of the Borm-Infeld correction to the Maxwell field on the holographic superconductor phase transition and understand the influences of the 1/N(N is the color quantum number)or 1/λ(λ is the ’ t Hooft coupling)corrections. |
