A Comparative Study Of Baoshan Red Agate In Yunnan And Sichuan Red Agate In Liangshan

South Red Agate is an important gem variety in Southwest China.Its color is bright,its texture is fine and moist.It has been widely welcomed by consumers,and has been popular in recent years.The two main origin of the agate in south red agate,Yunnan Baoshan and Liangshan of Sichuan,were divided into southern Yunnan red and South Sichuan Red respectively.This paper makes a detailed comparative study on the geological background,geological features,gemological properties and mineralogical origin,and analyses the similarities and differences of the agate in the two producing land.The methods are detected by conventional gemological detection,gemstone microscopic examination,X ray powder diffraction,X ray fluorescence,infrared,Raman and electron probe.The test found that the conventional gemological characteristics of the two native agate are similar,the color is different in depth of red,oil or glass luster,transparent to microtransparent,the refractive index is about 1.54,the relative density is 2.62~2.65,the hardness is 6~7,and the fluorescence is inert.Baoshan South Red Agate cracks more,the structure of Liangshan south red agate is more delicate.Their geological background,geological characteristics and metallogenic reasons are also different.The agate of Baoshan South Red Agate occurs in the Quaternary strata and is filled with almond body in basalt,and the Liangshan anagate occurs in the basalt and Xuanwei formation of the Mount Emei basalt group.The southern red agate of Liangshan was weathered,eroded and transported after the original ore formation,and finally deposited.
