The neural crest(NC)is a highly migratory multipotent cell population that forms at the interface between the neuroepithelium and the prospective epidermis of a developing embryo. After migration throughout the embryo, the neural crest cell can settle to differentiate into multiple tissue and organs.Chemotaxis and Electrotaxis are two properties that are reflected in the process of cell migration. The neural crest can directional migration towards external, soluble factors along their gradients. These factors were called chemoattractant, including SDF-1,VEGE,FGF,PDGF,etc.And they also can directional migration towards electrode when they are in the endogenous electric fields or exogenous electric fields. Some very important electrotaxis passway have been discovered like EGFR,Rac1,V-ATPase H+ pump,PI3 kinase/Pten.This review will discuss the migration of neural crest cell in vivo, outline mechanisms and some evidence for the chemotaxis and electrotaxis of the neural crest cell, try to provide some reference for the follow-up theory research. This research adopt the technology of microdissection to acquire the neural crest cells and use Live Cell Imaging System to record the result. There are some consequence of experiment: 1.EF guided NC cells to migrate to the anode.2.Voltage dependence of EF guide collective migration.3.The isolated cell can also response to EFs.4.NC cells' chemotaxis and electrotaxis have different leading cell.5.NC cells' chemotaxis and electrotaxis have different responding time.6.NC cells' chemotaxis and electrotaxis have different neighbourhood velocity.7.collective cells have better directionality than ioslated cell.
