Xanthan gum is an extracellular polysaccharide produced by Xanthomonas campestris.Because of the excellent properties in the matter of suspendability, pseudoplasticity, and thickening, xanthan gum is widely used in many fields. In this study the vitreoscilla hemoglobin gene?vgb?has been transferred into the strain xanthomonas campestris 13-1.The oxygen capacity of the strain has been increased,so the yield of xanthan gum increased. The vgb gene fragment was amplified by PCR with Vitreosphaeria genome as the template. The expression vector pET-vgb was construted, based on the connection the vector pET32a?+?and the vgb gene fragment. The vector pET-vgb was electroporated into the strain 13-1.The recombined strain HYJ-vgb was screened, which the vgb gene has been heterologous expressed.Compared with the original strain 13-1,the growth rate of the recombined strain HYJ-vgb has been increased.
