XinPu molybdenum deposit is a quartz-vein type deposit in southern Qinling area.It was investigated by many researchers in the last 30 years.It is considered that endogenetic metallogenic ore prospecting within the Qinling area is predominantly concentrated on molybdenum mineralization relating to small granitic body.In recent years,molybdenum deposits such as Yuchiling,Zhuyuangou,and Saozhoupo were discovered in large rock masses of Heyu,Taishanmiao,and Laojunshan in the eastern Qinling orogenic belt.Ore enrichment large porphyry bodies has therefore become a hot spot for ore prospecting.The XinPu molybdenum deposit is recently discovered in the NE trending fault of the Dongjiangkou granitic bodies.The average molybdenum grade of this deposit reached0.12 %,and the amount of molybdenum is more than12 thousand tons.Most geological prospecting units carried out geological survey,as well as geophysical and geochemical comprehensive mineral survey mainly in search of gold,vanadium,iron,lead,and zinc from 1960 s,however,did not give much attention to molybdenum-bearing ores.Until the last decades when molybdenite were found within several quartz vein in the process of prospecting the gold-bearing quartz vein,molybdenum-bearing ores has been focused by researchers.Based on our geological field work and researches done by other workers,this paper summarized and discussed the regional geological conditions,geological characteristics metallogenic geological characteristics,control factors,and metallogenic regularity of the XinPu molybdenum deposit with the following conclusions:1.The deposit is located in the middle part of the northern margin of the Qinling orogenic belt.It is a quartz-vein type deposit,and molybdenum-bearing ore bodies occur as veins and lenses within the NE trending fault of the Dongjiangkou granitic bodies.The molybdenum-bearing ores are mainly quartz-vein type and cataclastic rock type with few of K-feldspar-quartz-vein type.The country rock of the molybdenum-bearing ores are granodiorite and quartz diorite.Molybdenite Re-Os age dating reveals that the ore-formingage the molybdenum-bearing ores is 197.0±1.6Ma which postdates the country rock around 10~30Ma indicating that they are not directly relation.2.The XinPu molybdenum deposit is located in the the NE trending fault of the Dongjiangkou granodiorite bodies,and the ore belt is controlled by the fracture structure and it is considered as hydrothermal quartz vein type deposit.3.Based on the favorable prospecting results by geological explorations in recent years,it is considered that the Indo-Chinese epoch acidic magma closely related to the mineralization of molybdenum,tungsten and rare metals are widely distributed in the studied region which provides favorable thermal dynamic and medium conditions for the regional mineralization showing that the study area has great prospecting potential.
