Impact And Countermeasure Of Typhoon Disaster On Coastal Urban Garden Trees

Typhoon is a kind of natural disaster that occurs over tropical seas.The strong cyclonic eddy currents are particularly harmful to the coastal cities.After the typhoon,a large number of lodging and breaking trees pose a serious threat to people's safety and cause huge economic losses.Even more the disaster affects the urban landscape construction.This paper surveyed the ancient trees and native tree species in Zhuhai City;calculated the damage of urban garden trees caused by typhoon;analyzed the factors affecting the wind resistance of tree species;discussed the wind resistance of trees in Zhuhai City;which provided a theoretical basis for the creation of ecologically beautiful wind-resistant urban gardens.The author has used many types of research methods to write the paper,including document analysis,case analysis,site investigation,and so on.Through the study of theoretical and related cases,the results are as follows:The main factors that cause severe wind damage to urban garden trees include: First,some tree species have poor wind resistance,which is related to the nature of the wood,the shape of the crown,the type of the root,the crown and root ratio,the age of the tree,and pests and diseases.Second,the recovery situation of transplanting trees.Third,the frequent reconstruction of municipal project such as urban roads and underground pipelines has damaged the fixing ability of the root.Forth,the tree protection facilities have some design defects and the gradually aging facilities are not updated and maintained in time.The tree species with strong wind resistance and adapted to the environment of Zhu Hai include Palm Branch plants such as Roystonea regia and Syagrus romanzoffiana,and native tree species such as Podocarpus macrophyllus,Dracontomelon duperreanum,Elaeocarpus sylvestris,Cinnamomum bodinieri and Bischofia javanica.Based on the above research,the countermeasures to reduce the impact of typhoon on garden trees were proposed: First,according to local conditions,choose the right species.Second,strengthen the reinforcement and management of newly planted tree species.Third,pay attention to tree protection and avoid damage to roots.Forth,trees should be rescued in time after the typhoon.Fifth,recycle the fallen leaves combine with new material technologies and promote the use of organic mulch which is a kind of environmentally friendly material with excellent ecological and economic attributes.It may ensure the effectiveness of resource utilization to turn waste into treasure.
