During the internal thread processing of the drill pipe joint,due to the small internal space of the drill pipe joint,the chip removal space is limited,and the chips are difficult to discharge,which causes the chips to wrap around the tool,the fixture and the workpiece.In this paper,combined with the current status of internal thread processing of drill pipe joints,the research of automatic chip breaking process is carried out,and the automatic chip breaking process method is designed to realize the automatic chip breaking during the thread processing of the drill pipe joint.The main research contents include:(1)Through theoretical analysis and experimental research,the chip formation mechanism and the factors affecting the chip breaking during the internal thread processing of the drill pipe joint are analyzed.Combined with the actual machining condition of the internal thread of the drill pipe joint,the chip breaker is designed and tested,and the process is changed.Four methods of chip breaking,such as path,high pressure cooling and cyclone milling,are preferred for cyclone milling.(2)Using ABAQUS finite element analysis software,the numerical simulation model of internal thread of cyclone milling joint is established.Through simulation and full-level test,the influence law and significance of spindle speed and cutter speed on the maximum cutting force are obtained.(3)The influence law and significance of the process parameters,surface roughness and tightness of the cyclone milling process on the processing time,surface roughness and tightness were studied by single factor test analysis method and multi-factor interactive test analysis method.Based on the grey correlation method,the tight distance and processing time were used.As well as the surface roughness as the research goal,the process parameters were optimized,and the combination of parameters with the highest comprehensive evaluation was obtained.The results of process test show that the cyclone milling chip breaking process and optimized process parameters are reasonable and feasible,which effectively solves the problem of internal thread cutting of the drill pipe,improves the machining precision of the internal thread of the drill pipe,reduces the surface roughness and improves the machining efficiency.And lay a good foundation for the automation of drill pipe joint production.
