This thesis reports the systemic investigations of materials synthesis,crystal growth,magnetism and magneto-optical properties about the silicate of Ce9.33(SiO4)6O2?Ce9.33-xTbx(SiO4)6O2 and the borate of Eu0.068Ba0.932B2O4 crystals.The polycrystalline materials of Ce9.33(SiO4)6O2 and Ce9.33-xTbx(SiO4)6O2 have been synthetized by high temperature solid state method in the 5%H2+95%Ar atmosphere and the crystals Ce9.33(SiO4)6O2 and Ce9.33-xTbx(SiO4)6O2 are obtained by adopting Czochralski method.The chemical formula of Ce5.038Tb4.292(SiO4)6O2 was determined by SEM-EDS and ICP-AES.The cell parameters of the Ce9.33(SiO4)6O2 and Ce5.038Tb4.292(SiO4)6O2 crystals were calculated by XRD and Rietveld refinement software.The Ce3+ may preferentially occupy the 4f position in Ce5.038Tb4.292(SiO4)6O2 crystals.The variable temperature magnetic susceptibility of Ce9.33(SiO4)6O2 and Ce5.038Tb4.292(SiO4)6O2 crystals in the<100>and<001>directions were investigated,respectively.The Faraday rotations angle of the Ce9.33(SiO4)6O2 and Ce5.038Tb4.292(SiO4)6O2 crystal in the c direction are measured by adopting extinction method at three wavelengths 532,635 and 1064 nm at room temperature.The Verdet constants of Ce9.33(SiO4)6O2 and Ce5.038Tb4.292(SiO4)6O2 are 1.6 and 1.9 times that of TGG reported,respectively.Based on Van Vleck-Hebb theory,the transition efficiency of rare earth ions was calculated.Via Magnetic circular dichroism,we analysis Faraday effect of Ce5.038Tb4.292(SiO4)6O2 crystals.The EuxBa1-xB2O4 polycrystalline materials were also synthesized by solid-phase synthesis method and the crystal was obtained by Czochralski method.The chemical formula of crystal was determined by SEM-EDS and ICP-AES.Rietveld software was used to calculate the lattice parameters of the EuxBa1-x,B2O4.The crystal structure of Eu-doped BBO was not change,except the unit cell volume decreasing.XPS was used to analyze the valence of Eu.The magnetic properties of Eu0.068Ba0.932B2O4 crystal was studied at room temperature.It shows a high transmittance is about 80%in the 500-1600 nm.The Faraday rotation angle of the Eu0.068Ba0.932B2O4 crystal in the c direction is measured by adopting extinction method at three wavelengths 532,635 and 1064 nm at room temperature.The Verdet constants of Eu0.068Ba0.932B2O4 is about two-thirds of TGG.The MCD spectrum of the Eu0.068Ba0.932B2O4 crystal was tested.According to absorption spectrum we calculated the magneto-optical activity of Eu2+ion in Eu0.068Ba0.932B2O4 crystal.The Ce9.33(SiO4)6O2,Ce5.038Tb4.292(SiO4)6O2 and Eu0.068Ba0.932B2O4 preliminary research results of magneto-optical properties and growth can provide experimental and theoretical reference for the research of new magneto-optical materials.
