Philosophy of nature is an ancient and vigorous direction in the field of philosophy. The system of natural philosophy in the West has gradually formed since the ancient Greek period, and natural philosophy has appeared in China since the end of the Zhou Dynasty.China’s natural philosophy reached its peak in the Han Dynasty through the development of various schools of thought in the pre-Qin period.Since then,it has entered a relatively depressed state. In the Northern Song Dynasty, the philosophers represented by Zhang Zai further explained the ancient Chinese philosophy of nature with the theory of "Yuan Qi" as the core, but they did not achieve breakthroughs. In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, many disciplines in China have been relatively mature. On the one hand,Tongcheng Fang inherited Chinese traditional natural philosophy with wisdom,on the other hand,he actively assimilated and assimilated Western ideas and cultures under the wave of the spread of Western learning to the east, and formed his own unique natural philosophy.Fang Yizhi’s natural philosophy takes Yi-ology as its core, and puts forward a very meaningful point of view by applying the western method of "quality measurement".He takes Qi as the world noumenon, denies the existence of God,ghosts and gods, and lays the foundation of materialism for his natural philosophy. He emphasizes that everything in nature is in a state of movement, and that the root of movement lies in the role of fire, and the contradictions and struggles within fire promote the development of the movement of the whole world.Based on the above ontology and the concept of contradictory motion,he points out that the whole universe is an absolute space-time concept of the unity of time and space, and expounds the natural philosophy of the continuous movement of all things in time and space. The most distinctive and enlightening point is that Fang Yizhi discussed the relationship between science and philosophy, and applied the western method of "quality measurement" to his natural philosophy, thus opening a new chapter in the development of Chinese natural philosophy.By studying the natural philosophy of wisdom,on the one hand,we can sort out the achievements of the development of ancient Chinese natural philosophy,on the other hand,we can also provide a reference for the comparative study of modern Chinese and Western philosophy. This paper is divided into four parts: The first part of the paper analyses the purpose, significance, research status and research methods of the paper. The second part introduces the background of Fang Yizhi’s natural philosophy from the social and historical overview, personal family and growth experience. The third part discusses Fang Yizhi’s natural philosophy thought and its characteristics in four aspects. The fourth part evaluates the rationality and limitations of Fang Yizhi’s natural philosophy, and expounds the significance of his natural philosophy to modern times.
