As diamond drill bits are used more and more in geological drilling,the requirements for drilling drills are becoming higher and higher.And the drilling efficiency and service life of the drill bit are important indicators for evaluating the performance of the drill bit.The bit matrix is an important component that affects the performance of the bit.Therefore,the optimal design of the bit matrix material is of great significance for improving the performance of the diamond bit.In order to improve the drilling efficiency and service life of the drill bit,this paper chooses to add Y2O3 to the carcass.and test the hardness,impact toughness and flexural strength of each sample by sintering samples of different carcass formulas.research And fracture morphology by scanning electron microscope observation sample,to study the effect of Y2O3 on various properties of matrix,and the mechanism of action of Y2O3 to improve matrix performance.Finally,the feasibility of the new diamond drill bit with the addition of Y2O3 formula in practical work was verified by micro-drilling experiments.Through laboratory tests on different additions of matrix samples,it was found that the addition of proper amount of Y2O3 can significantly improve the mechanical properties of the matrix.Compared with the carcass material without added cerium oxide,when the addition of 0.8%Y2O3,the impact toughness is improved by about90%,the flexural strength is increased by 16%,and the hardness is increased by more than 15%.The reason is that the addition of Y2O3 can improve the internal structure of the matrix by means of dispersion strengthening and grain refinement,and making the matrix more dense,thereby improving the performance of the carcass.In addition,the fracture morphology of diamond composites was observed by SEM.It was found that adding 0.8%Y2O3 can improve the adhesion and wettability between the matrix and the diamond,and improve the inclusion ability of the matrix to diamond.However,the addition of Y2O3 does not reduce the sintering temperature of the matrix,and the optimum sintering temperature is still 830?.Through the micro-drill test,it is further concluded that the new diamond drill bit with added Y2O3 has better drilling effect,and its service life is also significantly improved,which is about twice that of the diamond drill without Y2O3.The feasibility of adding Y2O3 diamond drill bit in actual drilling work is proved.
