Magnesium, the most abundant divalent cation in plant cells,is an important component during the plant growing. There is a class of Mg2+ transporters that can response to the magnesium stress, regulate the uptake and transport of Mg2+,and maintain the homeostasis of Mg2+ in plant cells.1.There were two transmembrane regions in the C-terminus of AtZntB4 protein through analyzing the amino acid sequence of AtZntB4 gene(At2g04305)via the TMHMM online webpage. The result indicated that the AtZntB4 gene might be related the protein of transmembrane region. The relative expression levels of the AtZntB4 genes associated with Mg2+ were also assayed under different concentrations of Mg2+.2.The ability of Zn2+ transport was determined after introducing the AtZntB4 into the yeast mutant ZHY3 which lacking the Zn2+ transporter, the result revealed that AtZntB4 was not related to the Zn2+ transport.3.The wild type and atzntb4 Arabidopsis mutant were treated with the absence of different divalent metal ions(Ca2+?Fe2+?Zn2+?Mn2+?Mg2+),The results indicated that the atzntb4 mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana was weaker growth than that of wild-type in the absence of Ca2+ and Mg2+.Nevertheless,the growing tendency of mutant was obviously weaker than that of wide-type in lacking Mg2+.4.The atzntb4 mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana was weaker growth than that of wild-type when wild type and atzntb4 Arabidopsis mutant were incubated with low and high Mg2+.Besides,the relative expression levels of maker genes associated with Mg2+(ACA13?ARD3?CAX3?WRKY46)of wild-type were lower than that of atzntb4 mutant plants, which were treated with low and high Mg2+.In summary, the AtZntB4 genes might involving in transporting Mg2+ in plants.
