With the continuous development of society and the rapid economic growth,the global consumption of oil is increasing day by day.Oil is not only a fuel,but also an important source of raw materials for a variety of materials,such as synthetic polymers and petrochemicals.However,due to the development of offshore oil ship transportation,marine oil spills frequently occur.Therefore,the synthesis of adsorbent materials to solve the oil spill problem has become a major challenge.High oil absorption resin is a new type of polymer functional material developed in recent years.It has a three-dimensional molecular network structure,good oil-water selectivity,large oil absorption,heat resistance,cold resistance,good oil retention performance and fast oil absorption rate.However,studies have confirmed that high oil absorption resins have disadvantages such as high production cost,difficulty in degradation,and poor reproducibility in large-scale applications.In recent years,the use of the surface of natural organic or inorganic materials as a graft copolymerization reaction platform can achieve the synergistic effect of natural oil-absorbing materials and chemically cross-linked resins.The obtained oil-absorbing composite materials do not only reduce the production cost but also improves the oil absorption performance of the resin.It is a great significance for the large-scale application of oil-absorbing materials.Linseed is a small reddish-brown or golden-yellow seed of the common flax plant(Linum usitatissimum).After the industry removes oil from flaxseed,the residue of flaxseed meal is considered agricultural waste,which is usually thrown away or burned.This is a huge waste and also pollutes the soil and water environment.In order to solve the above problems,this study synthesized a new Linseed-polybutyl acrylate high oil absorbing resin based on flaxseed meal.The results obtained are as follows:LSM-g-P(BMA-co-BA)resin with oil-absorbent capability was prepared by grafting co-polymerization using linseeds meal as filler,butyl-meth-acrylate(BMA)and butyl-acrylate(BA)as monomers,N,N'-dimethylformamide(DMF)as cross-linker and peroxide benzoyl(BPO)as initiator and used for oil absorption.the mass ratio of BA to BMA was 1:1,?(BPO)=0.7 %,?(DMF)=0.04 %,?(NSMs)=3.1 %.The structure of the products was investigated in detail by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and optical image Then the oil absorbency,reusability,oil-retention capacity and thermodynamics will be examined.The oil absorption rate of oily substances such as chloroform,toluene,dichloromethane,food oil and ethyl acetate of primitive LSM is only 2.5,1.8,1.6,1.1 and 0.7 g/g respectively,while the adsorption rate of LSM-g-P(BMA-co-BA)is 36,28.8,27.6,24.8 and 20.4 g/g respectively.The results of the study showed that LSM-g-P(BMAco-BA)is a good and economical oil absorption resin because it has good oil absorption capacity than the primitive linseeds meal.
