Ytterbium doped potassium tungstate crystal?Yb:KY?WO4?2,Yb:KYW?is a solid laser working substance suitable for LD pumping,which has the advantages of low quantum defects and high light-to-light conversion efficiency.In this paper KYbxY1-xW?x=0.05,010,0.15,0.20?crystals were successfully grown by Top Seeded Solution Growth with K2W2O7 as flux.The effects of pulling speed and rotation speed on crystal growth were studied,and the optimum process parameters of crystal growth were determined.A series of structural and spectral properties of the processed crystals were tested.The results show that the KYbxY1-xW crystals have good thermal stability and high crystallization properties.The segregation coefficient of Yb3+ions in KYbxY1-xW crystal is close to 1.As the doping concentration of Yb3+ions increases,the density of KYbxY1-xW crystals increases gradually?6.58-6.69g/cm3?,the hardness decreases gradually?431-381N/mm2?.The KYbxY1-xW crystal has the largest absorption cross section and emission cross section at 980 nm,and the emission peak of the crystal has a significant red shift phenomenon.The crystal laser performance parameters were calculated,the calculation results show that the KYb0.05Y0.95W crystal has the largest gain cross section at 1034 nm,and its minimum pumping strength parameter Imin is 1.214KW·cm-2.In CW laser experiment,KYb0.05Y0.95W crystal achieves the output power of 1.31W with oblique efficiency of 44.8%and optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 24.81%.The KYb0.10Y0.90W crystal has a maximum output power of 1.643W when the output coupling mirror transmittance is 1%,and the absorption pump power reaches 8.802W,corresponding to the slope efficiency of 32.9%.The slope efficiency of KYb0.15Y0.85W crystal and KYb0.20Y0.80W crystal are 23.0%,and the output efficiency tends to be saturated.
