| China presents great reserve in heavy oil resources, which is mainly distributed in Liaohe,Karamay, and Shengli oilfield.Due to its high viscosity, poor mobility and other physical characteristics, the heavy oil has been poorly explored. The most effective conventional techniques for heavy oil thermal recovery include steam stimulation, steam flooding and gravity well drainage in horizontal wells, etc.Mose of China’s domestic major oilfields are developed using steam stimulation for heavy oil.Up to date, most of such reservoir are in the late stages,as the oil extraction is more difficult with the low content of oil and gas,the high water content and insufficient formation pressure.Compared to traditional steam stimulation,Multi-Component Thermal Fluid(MCTF)applies a multi-directional oil extraction mechanism. It has been verified in the exploitation and experimentation of various oil reservoirs by reducing the water content and increasing oil production. However, the implication of MCTF present various results of enhanced oil recovery for the wells in the same area. This paper discusses the reasons why MCTF shows different results for reserviors using the production data from Xinjiang Karamay Oil Production Plant. For example, the production of well Hong 001 is mainly controlled by the geological structure and lithology. The best production is found in the high-structural parts, the well-developed parts of the depositional bank microfacies, and the major thick oil layer. However, the high-permeability layer in the work area may lead to steam explosion.Additionally, the construction process has a significant effect on the actual development of the local area.Overall, the MCTF enhanced oil recovery technology presents good performance in the production of heavy oil.It could be optimized by selecting the suitable wells and considering the specific characteristics of the wells to achieve the best production. |
