A Study On The Gemological Characteristics Of Chrismatite In Liaoning Province

Chrismatite is found in many Chinese provinces and Liaoning province is famous for its best quality of Chrismatite production.Chrismatite is mainly distributed in the region of neogene proterozoic era xi he qun diao yu tai group with potential of marketing resources.Liaoning Chrismatite is mainly produced by seed jade and its round shape,unevenly sizes,smooth,mostly waxy surfaces covered by various tiny siliceous cement.It is stable in yellowish brown colour at commen temperature instead of fading away.Liaoning Chrismatite is classified and analysed spectral feature as quartz family with identification study on slice of Chrismatite sample containing Iron mineral and clay mineral as well as polycrystalline aggregate composed of agate,chalcedony opal,and moganite And containing small amount of iron minerals?metal sulfide and clay minerals such as illite.The rocks are metamorphic quartz sandstone and quartzite with its mohl hardness is 7,density of 2.63g/cm³,reflecting rate 1.53-1.54 as target point testing results indicated.The chemical composition of the yellow waxy Chrismatite is mainly from SiO₂ concluded with an X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy.The sample contains even higher than 99%of SiO₂ mixed with minor Fe₂O₃,CaO,K₂O,Al₂O₃,and other oxides.Spectroscopic Characteristics of Chrismatite testified by large-scaled instruments are as follows:infrared absorption peaks appear at 1181cm^-1,1121cm^-1,798cm^-1,781cm^-1,692cm^-1,542cm^-1 and 492cm^-1.Raman spectrum:absorption peaks at 128cm^-1,208cm^-1,262cm^-1,354cm^-1,392cm^-1,465cm^-1 and 1060cm-1,and a strong absorption peak was found near 465cm^-1.Main X-ray diffraction peaks d???=4.2594,d???=3.3449,d???=1.8183.Through analysis of experimental datas,Chrismatite is proved that its main component is?-quartz.It also contains illite and moganite.In naming,Chrismatite shallow layer of wax,the Enhancement,as naming of natural products.Pickling,gluing and dyeing as treatment techniques and shall be marked on designation.Years of practical experiences,seven factors of quality evaluation of yellow wax stone are summarized,including color,transparency,texture,defect,lumpiness,oddity and manufactrability.Based on systematic study of gemological characteristics of Liaoning Chrismatite has practical significance for promoting the development of Liaoning Chrismatite market.
