With arid climate and small average annual rainfall,Turpan Basin is located in the northwestern inland. The development and utilization of groundwater is an important way for economic development and urban construction in Turpan Basin. In order to rationally develop and protect the groundwater in the Turpan Basin, according to the existing technical outline of groundwater functional area division, combined with the hydrogeological conditions, ecological environment characteristics, and groundwater development and utilization of the Turpan Basin, the groundwater functional area in the Turpan Basin is classified in this thesis. It can provide targeted countermeasures for the development and protection of groundwater..The growth of vegetation in natural oasis areas is mainly maintained by groundwater.Once the groundwater in the oasis area changes, the corresponding surface ecological environment also changes.Oasis is a unique ecosystem in the arid region, and its development and changes have a significant impact on the environment. The maps of land use in Turpan Basin in 2000 and 2014 were used to classify and organize them in ArcGIS as a transfer matrix. The distribution and changes of natural oasis were analyzed through land use.Analysis of the environmental evolution of the Turpan Basin can provide a scientific basis for the sustainable development of natural oasis. The result of groundwater function evaluation is the basis of groundwater function zoning.Taking the groundwater in Turpan Basin as the research object, based on the "Groundwater Function Evaluation and Regionalization Technical Requirements",the hydrogeological conditions of the basin were organized and analyzed.According to the groundwater resource function and ecological function, groundwater extraction potential and ecological sensitivity were selected as evaluation factors for establishment a groundwater function evaluation index system.Among them, groundwater exploitation potential includes four aspects: single well gushing water volume, total groundwater recharge modulus, groundwater resource modulus, and groundwater recoverable modulus. The ecological sensitivity mainly includes two aspects of groundwater depth and natural vegetation distribution.Score each single indicator and normalize it in ArcGIS according to the scoring results;introduce the analytic hierarchy process to determine the weight value of each indicator for function evaluation, multiply each evaluation indicator by the weight in ArcGIS,and the GIS method was used for calssification. Finally, the evaluation result of the resource functions and ecological functions are obtained.Based on the groundwater function evaluation results, referring to the "Technical Outline of Groundwater Functional Zoning" for the definition of development zones, protected areas, reserved areas and their secondary areas, taking into account the current status of the Turpan Basin and the use of groundwater in the future water resources allocation, the division of groundwater functional areas was completed, and the secondary functional areas of groundwater in Turpan Basin was also analyzed initially.
