The emergence of night vision imaging technology has made up for the limitation of the human eyes in the night,enabling the observer to obtain information of the external things under the condition of low illumination.Among this technology,although low-light level imaging technology has been widely used with its own advantages,it also has some shortcomings.To improve the performance of this technology,it is combined with polarization technology to enable the observer to obtain more information.In this study,based on the low-light level polarization imaging technology,the acquired images are fused to ensure the visual observation and combine the information as much as possible,thus improving the utilization of the information and the work efficiency of the observer.Firstly,it is the acquisition and preprocessing of low-light level polarization images.In this study,we obtained multiple groups of low-light level polarization angle images by building an experimental platform,and pre-processed and enhanced the acquired images through grayscale changes and wavelet transforms.Secondly,Stokes polarization calculation were carried out for the processed images,and three polarization images as source images were obtained,i.e.,intensity image,polarization degree image,and polarization angle image.Moreover,the last two images were fused first,and the resulting fused image was used as another source image to participate in the final fusion with the intensity image.After that,it is the fusion method of the low-light level polarization image,which is also the focus of this paper.three fusion experiments were carried out by three different fusion methods,each of them corresponding to one method.Finally,on the basis of image fusion in this paper,color processing is carried out on the image.color transfer based on the HSV space was used to complete the image color processing.The results show that all the images obtained by the fusion method are suitable for observation and have good visual comfort;the color images obtained through color transfer have clear colors,the overall color distribution appears very natural,and the contrast between the target and the background is more obvious.In addition,the three groups of fusion images have achieved excellent results in various objective evaluation indicators,which verifying the applicability and superiority of the three fusion methods in this study.
