With the construction of smart grids in China, the requirement for power supply reliability of power transmission networks are getting higher and higher.Traditional traveling wave positioning methods, including double-ended positioning methods and single-ended positioning methods, are based on a line fault information for fault location. The positioning reliability is low;Meanwhile, the existing network positioning methods need to solve the network operation of the complex network with the ring network, which is easy to cause the network failure to affect the positioning accuracy. Therefore, this paper proposes a new network positioning method of the grid fault traveling wave based on a Dijkstra algorithm, which is expected to improve the reliability and positioning accuracy of traveling wave positioning. The paper first introduces the generation principle of the traveling wave and analyzes the transmission characteristic of the traveling wave in transmission line and the transmission network. When the fault occurs in the ring network, for the same detection point, the propagation path of the initial traveling wave is not unique for different fault locations..The fault location using the double-ended positioning formula needs to analyze the effective propagation path of the initial traveling wave.Combined with simulation analysis,it is found that the effective propagation path of the initial traveling wave is related to the shortest path of the faulty line between the substation. At the same time, the faulty network can be located by using the shortest path of the faulty line between multiple substations in the network as the calculation path and combining the time data of the whole network. On this basis, the Dijkstra algorithm is used to search the shortest path between all substations in the power grid,to establish the shortest path matrix, and to design the shortest path matrix correction algorithm of the power grid according to the actual fault line.Furthermore,a Dijkstra algorithm based on grid fault traveling wave network localization method is proposed, which includes identifying the validity of the initial traveling wave arrival time data, identifying the faulty line, and correcting the corrected shortest path calculation matrix and the initial traveling wave arrival time matrix to accurate fault distance; In addition, the paper also proposes a method for judging correcting the calculated fault distance to further ensure the reliability of fault location.According to the theoretical analysis and simulation results, the Dijkstra algorithm based on grid fault traveling wave network positioning method can avoid the operation error when the complex ring network is broken down into the radiated network according to the initial travel time of the fault in the traditional network positioning,or the failure of the network failure causes the fault to locate the fault. At the same time, when the detection device does not collect the initial traveling wave data or the detection device has a false judgment of the arrival time of the initial traveling wave, the positioning accuracy can be ensured, and it is expected to exhibit a certain value in the practical application of the engineering.
