Search For The Rare Decay B_s~0→K_S~0μ~+μ~- | | Posted on:2021-01-06 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:R Wang | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2370330605450078 | Subject:Particle Physics and Nuclear Physics | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | In the standard model(SM),flavour changing neutral current(FCNC)processes are prohibited at tree level and can only proceed via loop diagrams.New physics contribution could lead to sizable effects in rare FCNC processes.The decay Bs0→Ks0μ+μ-induced by b→d transitions is supposed to be very rare,with a braching fraction predicted to be in the range of(1~3)×10-8 in the SM.Search for this unobserved decay and study of its property can test the SM and probe new physics.The data sample of proton-proton collisions collected in 2011~2012 and 2015~2016 by the LHCb experiment is used for this analysis.The corresponding integrated luminosities are 2.9fb-1 and 1.9fb-1,respectively.Bd0→Ks0μ+μ-is used as the normaization channel.Ks0μ+μ-candidates with an invariant mass in the range of 5170~5500MeV are selected using multivariant analysis technqiues.No evidence of Bs0→ Ks0μ+μ-decay is observed.The upper limit on B(Bs0→KS0μ+μ-)is evaluated to be 5.0×10-8 at 90%CL using the profile maximum likelihood scan method. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | LHCb, FCNC, B meson decay, Upper Limits on the branching fractions | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
