The Greater White-Fronted Goose is a long-distance migratory bird, and its migration will be disturbed by many factors. In order to understand the relationship between the migration and activity rules of the wintering Greater White-Fronted Geese in Poyang Lake and the environment, this study took the wintering Greater White-Fronted Geese in Poyang Lake as the object, and used satellite tracking equipment to track 12 Greater White-Fronted Geese, furthermore, the study of the migratory rules and home range of the Greater White-Fronted Geese was conducted.By analyzing the migration process in spring and autumn and stopover sites of the Greater White-Fronted Geese, and the situation of the Greater White-Fronted Geese in the wintering site of Poyang Lake and their breeding sites, the following conclusions are obtained:1.The spring migration time of Poyang Lake Greater White-Fronted Geese is from late March to the end of May or early June. The autumn migration time is from late September to mid-October or early November.Autumn migration time is shorter than spring migration time, and autumn migration speed is faster than spring migration.2.The spring migration route of Poyang Lake Greater White-fronted Geese is basically fixed. After Poyang Lake ends its wintering period,it migrates northeast, crosses the Yellow Sea from Shandong to Liaoning, stops on the Songnen Plain, and then continues north along the Lena River to the breeding sites in northern Russia.During the migration process of the Greater White-fronted Geese, most of the time is stopped. The important stopover sites are the Songnen Plain in northeast China and the middle reaches of the Lena River in Russia. The water and vegetation resources are rich and suitable for rest. The Greater White-fronted Geese's autumn migration route is roughly similar to the spring route.3.The area of different home ranges of Greater White-fronted Geese in the wintering season are quite different, and the core home range areas of the same Greater White-fronted Geese in different wintering seasons are similar. The Greater White-fronted Geese of different individuals in the breeding period also have large differences. The area and location of the Greater White-fronted Geese in the same individual in different years are basically similar. The breeding sites of the Greater White-fronted Geese in northern Russia is larger, and the home range area of the Greater White-fronted Geese is smaller in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The area of daily activities and high utilization intensity of the Greater White-fronted Geese account for only a small part of the overall home range area.4.The wintering habitats of the 12 Greater White-fronted Geese tracked are in the same area, and most of the overall home range is mudflats, with moss grasslands and water bodies. The Greater White-fronted Geese have higher utilization rates in areas such as mudflats and marshes, where the maximum flooding time index is lower, and their core home range are generally near water bodies. The land composition of the Greater White-fronted Geese breeding sites located in the north of Russia are simple, and most of it is wasteland except for the water bodies and tundra needed for reproduction. The water resources are very rich and widely distributed. The land composition of the Greater White-fronted Geese breeding site located in the northeast of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is relatively complete, with a large proportion of moss grassland and woodland, and rich vegetation resources. The migration route of the Greater White-fronted Geese passes through more than half of China, and China is one of the wintering places of the Greater White-fronted Geese. Therefore, the study of the migration rules and home range of the Greater White-fronted Geese provides suggestions for the population protection and habitat protection of the Greater White-fronted Geese. It also provides basic information for understanding the potential threat of Greater White-fronted Geese carrying bird flu.
