Biodiversity conservation is a core issue of global humans concern. How to use scientific planning methods to formulate a scientific conservation systems for core conservation zones to improve the conservation effectiveness of biodiversity,Which is a key task that countries need to complete in a long time in the future.Guizhou Province is located in 35 priority areas for biodiversity conservation,China, and it is a province that is dominated by typical karst landforms. It shown that the province is rich in biodiversity by studies, but the ecology is relatively vulnerable,it will be extremely difficult to restore if damaged. In order to alleviate the threat of biodiversity,105 nature reserves have been established to protect. However, the existing reserve systems planned is not completely reasonable, and the conservation effectiveness needs to be improved due to the initial limited understanding of scientific conservation and be lacked of scientific planning tools. Therefore,We will readjust and plan the existing system of reserves on a provincial scale through systematic conservation planning methods. We Use C-Plan conservation planning software and GIS technology to calculate the irreplaceability index of sites in Guizhou Province, then to identify conservation priority areas and conservation gaps(GAP)with a high irreplaceability index of sites and the existing reserve systems; At the same time,we evaluate the existing reserve systems through conservation effectiveness value “C” and complementarity(Cjk);Using the irreplaceability index and human activity index to divide the conservation interval; Finally,we re-plan the areas of the existing reserve systems and functional areas, and we get the main results of this research as follow:(1)Guizhou Province is rich in biodiversity, and 11.06% of the area has high conservation value(0.6<Irreplaceability?1),Which has formed 6 major conservation priority areas, namely H1-West Guizhou plateau mountain coniferous mixed forest areas and grass mountain agriculture and animal husbandry conservation priority areas;H2-Northern Guizhou mountain original middle-mountain evergreen deciduous broad-leaved mixed forest and Danxia mountain in the western part of north Guizhou evergreen broad-leaved forest and bamboo forest conservation priority areas;H3-Central Guizhou hills basin evergreen broad-leaved forest karst priority areas for vulnerable ecological conservation;H4-Middle-low mountain evergreen broad-leaved forest in northeastern Guizhou, hilly evergreen broad-leaved forest and coniferous forest priority areas in southeastern Guizhou;H5-mountain hills in southeast Guizhou and evergreen mountain valleys in Guizhou priority areas for broad-leaved forest conservation;H6-Priority areas for monsoon forest conservation in the southwestern Guizhou valley.(2)Within the existing nature reserve systems,61.23% of the areas has a low conservation value(Irreplaceability?0.6);the conservation effectiveness value C of nature reserves in Guizhou is 62.12,and only 26.39% of the protected objects achieve the conservation target(Ti ? 100);Among the different levels of reserves, the national nature reserves have the highest conservation effectiveness(C=37.66);There is a high complementarity among the reserves,The ratio of the reserves that complementarity value above 80% is 41.86%,It is reasonable that protected object selected in most of the nature reserves.(3)The existing reserves in Guizhou Province only cover 16.94% of the priority areas of the province. It forms 5 conservation gaps by the remaining priority areas, namely GAP1-Seasonal rainforest conservation gap areas in the southwestern Guizhou valley;GAP2-Mountain and hilly conservation gap areas in the southeastern Guizhou;GAP3-Plateau mountain conservation gap areas in the west Guizhou;GAP4-Mountain original basin conservation gap areas in the central Guizhou;GAP5-The evergreen deciduous broad-leaved mixed forest conservation gap areas in the original central mountain range of northern Guizhou.(4)Changing the conservation range and functional zoning of the existing nature reserve systems, and after the new reserve systems are planned to be established in the gap areas, the conservation effectiveness of the conservation network systems for biodiversity C reaches 86.37,which promote 24.25 higher than before planning, and 66.67% of all the protected objects have achieved the conservation targrt after planning, and the proportion of protected objects whose contribution value is more than 60 reaches 88.89%.After the conservation range and functional zoning of national nature reserves has been optimizing and adjusting, the conservation effectiveness C has increased by 2.12,and the conservation effectiveness of each core zone has been significantly improved.
