Slope stability is a significant aspect of geotechnical engineering.Input parameters for the analysis are the governing factors and they must be determined accurately and precisely.Field investigations, laboratory testing and back analyses are vital tools for the input parameters.Slope stability analyzes are carried out to determine the safe and economical nature of human-made or natural slopes(e.g.embankments,road cuts, excavations, and landfills). This thesis presents the prediction for the slope instability and influence of rainfall effects and analyzing its slope stability based on the investigation and analysis of engineering geological conditions.Evaluation of numerical assimilation by using FLAC-3D and assessment of the precision of the slope stability analysis in 2D considering the effect of rainfall infiltrations is the core points.Several basic assumptions and principles used in formulating these numerical method analyses are outlined prior to deriving the general factor of safety equations. The physical model test result of a slope that used a mixture of sand and kaolin was subjected to artificial rainfall to determine the behavior of the infiltration and its mechanism of failure. The instrument used for the simulation test embedded with sensor along the midline of the slope and two angles gentle slope(30°)and steep decline(45°)are for the failure mode. The simulation result shows that increasing rainfall intensity will not change the failure mode of slope body, the intermittent rainfall is slightly larger than that of continuous rainfall and also the damage scale span under intermittent rainfall is larger than that of continuous rainfall. Two dimensional method forms analysis have been in use in geotechnical engineering for many decades for testing the stability of earth slopes.Problems due to slope instability during rainfall season can cause major landslides occurrences.Different rainfall intensities and duration affect the slope in different manners. The influences of rainfall on deformation characteristics and slope instability mechanism of the soil slope was determined in-order to modeling test under the different location, different slope angles, different density and different rainfall conditions.
