Self-disclosure is the prosesses of expressing one's own willingness, thoughts, and feelings to others.Positive self-disclosure is benefict to one's physical and mental health and harmonious interpersonal relationships, through resolving interpersonal conflict, regulating emotional, and cultivating interpersonal relationship.Currently,it has been found that cortisol is involved in mental health, emotion expression. However, these studies did not directly investigate the biological foudation of self-disclosure dispositions and behaviors. Thus,to reveal the psychogenetic and endocrine foundations of self-disclosure,we investigated the relationships between cortisol receptor gene, receptor complex chaperone protein gene, cortisol level and self-disclosure disposition and behaviors in interpersonal conflict.1.Relationships between the polymorphisms of NR3C1 and FKBP5 and self-disclosure dispositionsThis study recruited 711 college students and measured their self-disclosure dispostions(i.e.,disclosure and concealment)with the Distress Disclosure Index Scale(DDI),the relationships between gentic polymorphisms and self-disclosure dispositions were examin-ed by differenting the individuals according to the rs41423247 and rs10052957 of NR3C1 and the rs1360780 of FKBP5.Results showed that:(1)the rs41423247 of NR3C1 was significantly correlated with disclosure disposition(p = 0.008),individuals with the GC/CC genotype showed lower disclosure disposition as compared with those with the GG genotype. However, the significant associations of the rs10052957 of NR3C1 with self-disclosure dispositions were absent(disclosure: p = 0.156,concealment: p = 0.813).(2)The rs1360780 of FKBP5 was significantly correlated with disclosure disposition(p = 0.043),individuals with the CC genotype showed lower disclosure disposition as compared with those with the TC/TT genotype, but concealment(p = 0.311).2.Relationship between cortisol level and self-disclosure behaviors in romantic conflictNinty-eight couples(M ± SD = 22.43 ± 2.37 years)were recruited, induce interpersonal process based on conflict dialogue context,we encoded self-disclosure behaviors(fact disclosure and emotional disclosure)during interpersonal interactions by using conflict dialogue between romantic partterns, during which salivary baseline cortisol level was measured with ELISA.The relationship between baseline cortisol level and self-disclosure behaviors during conflict were examined with the “Actor-partner independence” model(APIM).Results showed that the baseline level of cortisol was not related to the emotional and factual self-disclosure behaviors of conflict(“actor effect” : ps ? 0.114,0.148;“partner effect” : ps ? 0.204,0.897).In summary, the NR3C1 and FKBP5 polymorphisms are associated with self-disclosure dispositions, while baseline cortisol level is not associated with self-disclosure behaviors in conflict scenarios. This study provides a certain reference value for the genetic and neuroendocrine basics of self-disclosure's basic field.
