Acoustoelectric Logging Tool is a new kind of well logging tool, which bases on the principle of electro-kinetic effect. With the help of this tool,it is possible to evaluate geophysical parameters, such as permeability and porosity.Usually, before a detector comes to field application,it is necessary to research the performance indicators by experiments, aimed to offer a reference for data processing and subsequent research. This paper makes a thorough inquiry on newly developed acoustoelectric logging tool 2.0,studies its performance in a laboratory environment.First, this paper introduces the principle of electro-kinetic and related logging detectors. Then,a multiple-channel excitation circuit for transmitter and a software for data extraction are designed, the excitation circuit can work in direct-excitation mode or transformer-excitation mode;and the software can extract and show experimental data,it improves the efficiency of data analysis.Next, the property for detector’s sonic transducer is measured in a non-anechoic pool, the results show that all of the transducers work well, and with the increasing of the adjacent acoustic transmitting sub-array’s excitation signal delay time, the main lobe of the radiation deflected obviously, however, the delay time cannot exceed 20 us.Afterwards, the detector’s response for crack formation is observed, the analysis of results indicate that cracks can attenuate stoneley wave energy, and the attenuation caused by a crack per unit millimeter is about 0.4375 d B.In addition, the electrode array constant for this detector is calculated by establishing a validation model for electrode array in ANSYS and having a numerical simulation, the result indicates that the two constants are about 8.5 and 1.9.A series of practical testing data is used to calculate, the calculated results are very close to numerical simulation. Finally, the research results and some problems during the research are summarized. All in all,the research results in this paper provide an important foundation for data processing and further improvement for acoustoelectric logging tool 2.0.
