Mem-elements(Memory elements)are the collective term for memristors,memcapacitors,and meminductors,all of which are new components with memory characteristics.The emergence of mem-elements extends the theory of classical circuits.Among them,the memristor as the fourth basic circuit component has been widely studied,and the memcapacitor and the meminductor expanded by it have gradually entered the research field of scholars.These mem-elements have their own unique "memory" characteristics and non-linear characteristics,while at the same time having non-volatile,low power consumption,nanostructure,and extensibility,so they are made in non-volatile memory,artificial Neural networks,biomedical,nonlinear circuits and systems have potential applications.Chaotic circuits and systems are an important research hotspot in nonlinear circuits and systems.In the field of chaos,the generation of hyperchaotic signals with complex dynamic characteristics has always been the focus of research.The emergence of memory elements has opened up a new path for chaos research.Chaotic generators based on memory elements can generate more complex chaotic behaviors or hyperchaotic behaviors,which makes memory elements chaos more conducive to application in some fields such as image and video encryption,secure communications and so on.This paper will study the memory elements and its application in chaos,and carry out numerical simulation and hardware and software simulation.The main innovations and work contents of the article are summarized as follows:(1)In order to facilitate subsequent research on memory elements,a universal charge-controlled mem-element(including memristor,memcapacitor and meminductor)emulator composed of off-the-shelf devices is proposed.When the overall frame of the circuit remains unchanged,the emulator can separately implement the behavioral emulation of the charge-controlled memristor,memcapacitor and meminductor by replacing the resistor or capacitor in the circuit.The proposed emulator circuit has a simple mathematical relationship and is composed of fewer active devices and passive components,which not only reduces the cost,but also facilitates reproduction,and is more convenient for future application research.The article not onl y proposes the grounding form of the circuit,but also designs the floating form.Multisim circuit simulation and breadboard experiment verify the correctness of the proposed emulator.(2)In order to obtain more complex dynamic behavior,the mem-elements and classical chaotic circuit are combined to design a universal mem-elements chaotic circuit including the proposed mem-elements emulator and other circuit components.The circuit is based on the dual circuit of classic Chua's circuit which is slightly deformed.In this circuit,no matter whether the memory element is a memristor,a memcapacitor or a meminductor,the chaotic circuit structure will not change,and hyperchaos will be generated by adjusting the circuit parameters.The Matlab software simulation shows the phase diagram of the hyperchaotic attractor.The Lyapunov exponential spectrum analysis verifies the chaotic oscillation characteristics of the designed circuit.
