A Study On The Relationship Between The Quality Of Economic Growth And Energy Efficiency In China

With the steady development of economy,China's demand for energy consumption is increasing at the stage of rapid industrialization and urbanization.As a developing country with a large population base,the per capita resource possession below the world average level and the rising energy demand with increasingly serious environmental problems has become the biggest obstacle in the process of China's economic development.Considering the basic situation of our country,the leaders put forward the concept of New Normal.It means that extensive energy consumption mode and traditional economic growth mode are no longer adapted to China's existing development policies,and the key factors affecting economic growth are gradually changing.Technological innovation,industrial upgrading and other factors may become the main reasons for the changes.The improvement of energy efficiency reflects the progress of technology and shows that the energy as an input factor in the production process has been used more efficiently.Globally,there are imbalances between supply and demand,insufficient supply and violent fluctuation of energy prices in the international energy market,which makes the limited energy resources become the focus of economic competition among countries.It can be seen that it is very important to study the correlation between the two in the context of increasingly complex domestic and international energy and economic development.There is a strong positive correlation between the quality of economic growth and energy efficiency,and the unbalanced development between them will destroy the stability of energy economy market.In most cases,healthy and stable economic growth can bring financial,equipment,human and other support to the country,which can promote the improvement of energy efficiency.The improvement of energy efficiency marks the maximum output after quantitative input,which can effectively increase the output rate and promote the quality of economic growth.In addition,there may be a negative correlation between the two in different stages of economic development,such as environmental management costs are excessive and the economic benefits are less than the equipment renewal cost,which may have a negative impact on the quality of economic growth.Based on this background,this paper makes an empirical test on the correlation between the quality of economic growth and energy efficiency.The principalcomponent analysis method is used to calculate the quality of China's economic growth from 1990 to 2017 in terms of economic growth efficiency,economic growth structure and economic growth stability.And the climate analysis method is used to caculate the same period energy efficiency through the five aspects of industrial structure,energy consumption,environmental management and so on.Considering the non-linear nature of economic time series,this paper uses MS-VAR model of two-region to analyze the correlation between them under different systems.The results show that there is obvious asymmetry in their development trend.Most sample intervals show a strong positive correlation between them,while a few sample intervals show a weak negative correlation between the two.
