Research On Rumor Propagation Model Considering Refutation Mechanism In Complex Networks

In the 21 st century,the progress of network information technology has brought about the convenience of instant communication and the expansion of social space.However,the flexibility of the cyberspace makes it a hotbed of rumors.With the propagation of various false information and the leakage of privacy,rumor spreading not only endangers people's normal life,but also has a negative impact on social harmony and national stability.The spreading of rumors has proved to be a serious and complicated social problem in the mass perspective,and the trend of rumor dissemination also has turned into an important factor in promoting the development of some events.Therefore,how to take effective measures to refute rumors should become an important issue to deal with the crisis of public opinion and reduce the negative influence of rumors.The main purpose of this paper is to study the rule of rumor dissemination by establishing rumor propagation models considering the mechanism of rumor refutation,so as to put forward relevant suggestions to reduce the explicit and implicit negative impact of rumor spreading on society.On the basis of classical SIR model,a T-SIR rumor propagation model is built in this paper firstly by adding the role of truth carrier to study the rules of rumor propagation and carry out the steady-state analysis.Subsequently,a new rumor spreading model,WT-SIR* model,is developed.This model extends the T-SIR model by adding the role who will make a judgment after observation and dividing the participants removed into three categories: neutrality,believing rumors and taking the truth.Under the background of small-world network and scalefree network,the WT-SIR* model carries out the simulation and analysis process with data from launching investigation questionnaire.The following results are obtained in this research.1.A T-SIR rumor propagation model with the role of truth carrier is introduced,and the steady-state analysis is conducted to find that this rumor spreading model has no spreading threshold in regular network.Then,a new rumor spreading model,WT-SIR* model,is developed.The WT-SIR* rumor propagation model extends the T-SIR model by adding the role who will make a judgment after observation and dividing the participants removed into three categories: neutrality,believing rumors and taking the truth.This model distinguishes the explicit and implicit negative influence of rumors intuitively,which is helpful to develop new ideas about the effective methods of pre-prevention and middle-coordination control of rumors.2.Based on the WT-SIR* model,the rumor dissemination process in small-world network and scale-free network is studied with the data from launching investigation questionnaire,which makes the research results more reliable.It is found that the rule of rumor propagation is closely related to the properties of the rumor itself and the properties of the information which refutes the rumor,whether in small world networks or scale-free networks.The specific relationships between rumor dissemination rules and the properties of rumor and information which refutes the rumor are obtained on these two kinds of networks,including the scale and speed of rumor spreading,the peak values of the rumor spreader and truth carrier in the spreading process,the state of the three categories of participants removed in the stable state of propagation.3.By studying the influence of conversion rate on rumor dissemination,it is concluded that strengthening people's awareness of not believing in rumors casually can weaken the negative impact of rumors more effectively than encouraging them to actively dispel rumors directly,and there should be an explicit direction when dispelling rumors,so as to reduce the implicit negative influence of rumors and control the scale of rumor dissemination at the same time.4.By comparing the similarities and differences of the rumor dissemination rules in two different network topologies,it reveals the fact that network topology does have some influence on rumor spreading process.At the same time,it is concluded that under the same conditions,rumors in small-world networks spread faster than in scale-free networks,with a larger scale of dissemination,and the rumor spreader,the truth carrier,the neutral removed participants and the participants removed with the truth have greater densities in small-world networks than in scale-free networks.5.Based on the research results,following suggestions are put forward to reducing the harm of rumor dissemination: First,people should be encouraged to treat rumors rationally,and not to believe in rumors casually.Secondly,there should be an explicit direction when dispelling rumors.Thirdly,the government needs to establish and improve laws and regulations related to rumors further to provide legal protection.Finally,in order to reduce the negative influence of rumors,the mass power needs to be attached great importance then the function of social supervision and coordination can be brought into full play.
