Gansu is located in the depths of Eurasian continent, most of which are arid and semi-arid areas, and the terrain is complex and diverse, with unique geographical environmental conditions.Tiger is an species that is particularly sensitive to natural environment conditions and is endangered. This article selects the Gansu region with extremely complicated natural environmental conditions as the regional background.Taking tigers in this typical area as the research object, the relationship between the existence history of tigers and the changes of natural environment and the impact of human activities can be discussed, which can better reflect the specific regions. The historical changes of an animal can also provide support for the study of historical animal geography in the region. This topic has made a systematic exploration of tigers in Gansu during the Ming and Qing Dynasties by extensively collecting and collating historical records in Gansu during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, using historical documentation, chart applications, statistical methods and field surveys.First of all, based on the local chronicle data, the geographical distribution pattern and spatial and temporal distribution of tigers in the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Gansu were initially recovered.Secondly, through the natural environment changes and human activities in Gansu during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the tiger 's changes in this period were preliminarily summarized, and the tiger 's changes were analyzed from the aspects of population increase, vegetation destruction, war impacts, and changes in climate conditions reasons for change. What's more, taking tiger disease as a starting point, the study focuses on the human-tiger conflict and tiger disease in the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Gansu. Finally, from the perspective of humanity, the study gives a brief analysis of the beliefs and supernatural powers of the tiger. At present, the academic research on tigers in Gansu is still shallow, and there is a lack of systematic combing and research. Therefore, this paper explores the distribution and changes of tigers in Gansu during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the relationship between humans and tigers, and the belief and spirit of tigers. The above makes up for the weakness of historical animal geography research in Gansu.
