In order to improve the reliability of the system, some units are usually needed for redundancy. The common form of redundancy is k-out-of-n:G system, which is abbreviated as k/n(G)system.In addition to the conventional redundancy form to improve the reliability of the system, there is a special redundancy mode, namely performance sharing.Since the performance sharing model was first proposed, the research on the deformation and extension of the model has appeared one after another.Combined with the advantages of these two redundant forms to improve the reliability of the system, and considering the limitations of the existing performance sharing model,in order to obtain a more perfect model,a new instantaneous availability model for a repairable multi-state k/n(G)system with performance sharing is proposed in this paper. The repairable multi-state k/n(G)system studied in this paper consists of n multi-state units, the two adjacent components are connected by a transmitter, and the whole system is connected by k/n(G)structure.Each unit in the system has several random performance levels and several random demands. If the performance of a unit exceeds its demand, the surplus performance can be transmitted to its adjacent units through intermediate transmitters. Each transmitter has several random capacities, through which only a limited amount of performance can be transmitted. The system can be divided into different states according to the number of the units whose demands are satisfified. In this paper, the L_ztransform method, which combines stochastic process method with general generating function technique,is suggested to evaluate the instan-taneous availability of the proposed repairable multi-state k/n(G)system,after the instantaneous availability algorithm and its related indexes are given, the reliability of the system under different performance sharing states is analyzed by a numerical example.
