With the development of petroleum exploration and production technologies,the data quality of acquisition,processing and interpretation are required more and more highly.The seismic data processing technology,as an import guarantee of data quality,have made great strides in many aspects such as broad band processing,migration,multiples attenuation,velocity model building,5-D interpolation and so on.And for the migration,Kirchhoff prestack depth migration is widely used in industry,and the Reverse Time Migration(RTM)method is expanding rapidly in recent years.Between these two methods,Gaussian Beam Migration(GBM)plays a more and more vital role in practical production on its superiority,and is given more and more attention.This paper will discuss the theory and application of GBM systematically.Firstly,the theory and the principle of GBM are presented in this paper,and from these theories the deduction process of Gaussian beam migration formulas are given.Then the implementation details of Gaussian beam migration algorithm are also specified;Secondly,the results of calculation for several models shows that the method is reliable.The real data are also processed by this method,and during this process,several optimization methods are proposed to improve the image quality of seismic data,especially marine seismic data.Finally,based on the test results,the understanding of Gaussian beam migration method is deepened,the key parameter are thoroughly studied,and the practical production flow are suggested.In the whole,the studies of Gaussian beam migration forms an effective method which can be used to improve image quality of high and deep structures.Through the tests on model and real data,the algorithm and effect are both validated.The parameter and production flow are suggested to optimize the migration result and efficiency.This research builds a strong foundation for application of GBM in practical production.
