The notion of extra dimension is prominent in modern physics.Extra dimension theory and braneworld scenarios have drawn attention and been widely studied recently for being able to address some long-existing problems such as the hierarchy problem and the cosmological problem.The core issue of braneworld theory is to localize the of various matter fields and gravity,i.e.,to reconstruct the standard model and general relativity in low energy.In this paper we investigate a new localization mechanism of q-form fieldsIn chapter 1,we introduce the general idea of extra dimension and braneworld through several concrete modelsIn chapter 2,we investigate the ordinary localization method of q-form fields and introduce various new localization mechanism of the vector filedIn chapter 3,we consider the Hodge duality problem in q-form fields localization.It is known the Hodge duality is incompatible with the ordinary localization,we introduce two new mechanisms concerning this problem based on modification of the KK decomposition finally we conclude that the second one(the general KK decomposition)is more general and it includes the first one as a special caseIn chapter 4,we generalize the second mechanism to higher codimensional case,for example n=2:the general KK decomposition leads to four types of KK modes;we obtain a gauge invariant effective action on the brane;we prove that the high dimensional Hodge duality naturally reduces to the brane,and try to understand it from a unified perspective.From the deduction of the n=2 case,we can expect there is no essential difference in the case n>2.
