The Huoshangtan gold deposit, located along the northern margin of North China Craton(NCC),is a typical gold deposit in Shanxi Province. The host rock of the ore body is mainly garnet monzonitic granite, and gold crystal are always coexist with pyrite. In this contribution,we report a comprehensive study of the Huoshantan Au deposit basing on the detailed field investigation, intrusive rocks, mineralogy, and geochromology to determine the metallogenic tectonic setting, age of intrusion and mineralization, thereby forming the basis for a genetic model of the deposit.Based on the comparison with the other Au deposits in NCC,the gold metallogenic regularity was summarized. The following achievements have been withdrawn in this study:Mineralization of the Huoshangtan Au deposit are divided into four stage, which are metamorphic-hydrothermal gold deposit. The study of diorite zircon U-Pb,which is closely related to mineralization, shows that the Huoshaotan gold deposit was formed at 110 Ma and is consistent with the large-scale lithospheric extension and thinning of the NCC.The gold deposits in the northern margin of NCC were mainly formed in the Early Cretaceous and were formed in the secondary or secondary faults of large-scale faults. This area has great gold prospecting potential and the prospecting signs mainly include stratigraphic structural signs, wall rock alteration signs, geophysical signs, and geochemical abnormal signs.
