| China has abundant dinosaur fossils.And Zigong is a significant dinosaur fossil site in China and one of the most important paleontological fossil sites in the world.It is quite rare in the world for its abundance,variety,concentration and well-preservation of dinosaur fossils.Taken Zigong Dinosaur Fossil Site as the study object and based on the author’s accumulation of years’ work and study,this paper first analyzes and summarizes the types and characteristics of Zigong dinosaur fossils.After over 100 years discovery,excavation and research,160 dinosaur fossil sites have been discovered in Zigong,among which 21 genus and 26 species of dinosaur fossils as well as 2 genus of dinosaur footprints have been identified.There are three Jurassic dinosaur fossil faunas with various occurrence status in Zigong,Prosauropoda-Lufengosaurus Fauna,Sauropoda-Shunosaurus Fauna and Sauropoda-Mamenchisaurus Fauna,the main buried layers of which are Xiashaximiao Formation of Middle Jurassic and Shangshaximiao Formation of Upper Jurassic.Secondly,the paper analyzes the scientific research,science popularization,educational tourism and cultural industry value of the Site.After analyzing the fossil protection status of Zigong and other areas,it points out the problems and potential threatens,and proposes four protection measures by strengthening the construction of management system and talent tram,increasing the fund investment and making long-term protection plans.Finally,the author put forward fossil utilization measures from four aspects,namely conducting scientific research and science popularization,promoting geology educational tourism and developing cultural industries.Through studying the protection and utilization of Zigong Dinosaur Fossil Site,it tries to provide theoretical basis for scientific protection,effective utilization and sustainable development of the site,practical operational basis for the site management unit,as well as reference basis for other fossil sites in China. |
