The efficient flotation separation of pentlandite and lizardite is described by conducting a series of exploration and research in this thesis.We aimed at providing new ideas for reducing magnesium content in the concentration during the flotation of copper-nickel sulphide ore.The thesis is divided into three parts.Part 1:research on the simple method for magnetic separation of pentlanditeUsing the copper-nickel sulfide rich ore of Jinchuan Second Mining Area as the raw material,by taking advantage of the different mass susceptibilities of single minerals and the precise control of the magnetic field intensity,high purity pentlandite can be obtained by separation from other single minerals.This study has investigated the relationship of the magnetic field intensity,the granularity of pentlandite and the separation purity during magnetic separation to determine the optimum separation condition,which provides a convenient method for extracting high purity pentlandite in laboratory.Compared with artificial synthesis,this method is safe and fast;in contrast with traditional separation,this method can be operated easily with simple devices.This study provides a large number of pentlandite as research material for the follow-up work.Part 2:research on new selective depressants for lizarditeIn order to reduce the detrimental effect of surface characteristics of lizardite on pentlandite flotation,two starch graft copolymers,starch-graft-polyacrylamide and starch-graft-polyacrylic acid(S-g-PAM and S-g-PAA)were synthesized as depressants for lizardite.The flotation results demonstrate that S-g-PAM and S-g-PAA improve pentlandite recovery obviously efficiently,compared with the traditional depressant-carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC).Experiments certify that S-g-PAM and S-g-PAA firstly disperse the hydrophilic lizardite from the pentlandite surface,and next flocculate lizardite particles.Part 3:exploration on the floatation separation of pentlandite and lizardite in the high constitution ion concentration solutionSaltwater flotation,as an economic and environmental concept,is widely used all over the world,especially in the regions lacking fresh water.Saltwater flotation mainly targeted carbonate minerals flotation and coal.On the basis of a large number of previous studies,we use special "constitution ions" solution instead of fresh water to conduct flotation experiments in the pentlandite/lizardite system.The flotation results show that constitution ions improve pentlandite recovery efficiently,compared with deionized water and brine.A series of experimental results show the changes in the surface potential of the two monomineralic minerals and the increases of particle size of lizardite.Constitution ion solution,therefore,has a good application prospect in mineral flotation.
