Furfural is a large-scale platform bio-based derivative in the biorefinery.The selective hydrogenolysis of furfural to the high value-added compounds,such as 1,2-pentanediol and 1,5-pentanediol,is great benefit to the China's economic growth,thereby improving the utilization of biomass energy.In this paper,we are committed to designing high selectivity of the platinum nanoparticle catalyst for the preparation of pentanediol from the furfural.A comparative experiment has been made on the structure and catalytic performance of three Pt-based catalysts.The selectivity of the catalyst introduced of aluminum was studied.Furthermore,the cobalt-modified hydrotalcite-like support Pt catalysts were studied subsequently.The main results were as follows:1)The result of the comparative experiment made on the selective hydrogenolysis of furfural by Pt/?-Al2O3,Pt/Al2O3 and Pt/MgO showed that the Pt particles have the function of cleavage C-O bond.In addition,the properties on the surface of support could affect the particle size and dispersion of the active metal particles,therefore,it will affect the activity of the cracking of the C-O bond.2)Although the specific surface area of the catalyst was increased and the surface acidity was weakened with the increase of the relative content of aluminum,the selectivity of pentanediol tends to increase.The catalytic activity and selective of the catalysts Pt/Al3Mg and Pt/MgAl3 were better than other Mg-Al oxide supports Pt-based catalysts,and in particular the catalyst Pt/MgAl3 with bigger surface and smaller particle size of Pt.3)The selectivity of the target product will decrease as the calcination temperature of commercially available hydrotalcite was more than 500oC.The Clion on the catalyst surface would affect the selectivity of the target product.Compared with Mg-Al hydrotalcite prepared by myself,the selectivity of pentanediol was lower.However,the catalytic activity and selectivity of Pt/CoMg3Al-500 exhibited excellent performance,which was modified by cobalt and prepared by myself.Therefore,the catalyst supported Pt with cobalt modified hydrotalcite-like performed a better selectivity to the high value-added products,which had a good prospect in the hydrogenolysis of furfural.
