Large quantity of solid wastes,containing Si and Al,were generated in the produc-tion of catalytic cracking(FCC)catalyst,which was as slag to bury.The solid wastes involved powders of the molecular sieve and the catalyst entrained in sewage which generated in the process of filtration,washing,exchange and later-modification of the molecular sieve and catalyst.It is valuable to explore the process for treating reason-ably the waste slag,not only save lots of crude material and decrease the production cost of the catalysts,but also relieve greatly the difficult problem environmental pro-tection getting more acute in the catalyst business.The composition of solid wastes was investigated from the treating ammonia nitrogen waste water workshop of CNPC Changling catalysit Co.From the detection of 6 sam-ples of FCC slags,26 elements exist in different content.It is indicated that alumina was contained abundantly with a range of 42-45%.Si02 was primary non-metal com-position,but the cntent diffrence of the samples is huge from 12%to 30%.The high-est content of lanthanum rare earth element was 15%,lowest was nearly to 5%.It is Practical implications to cut down the erosion of the rare earth and to develop the recovery of the rare earth in the slags.The modified FCC slags with catalytic activity wrer obtained from the treatment of FCC slags by hydrochoric acid.The composition and strcture of the modified FCC slags were chariacterized by chemical analysis,XRD and so on.The effects of the reaction time and Si/Al molar ratio on the catalytic performance of modified FCC slags were investigated.The optimum reaction conditions are as follows:the molar ratio of ethyl acetoacetate and ethylene glycol is 1:1.6,the dose of catalyst is 6%.The results indicated that the yield of the fructone catalyzed by the modified FCC slags was 92%and the selectivity was over 99%.The catalytic performance of modified FCC slags also exhibit in the synthsis of other 20 acetals,with less dose,higher selec-tion and environment-friendly.The isomerization of a-pinene catalysed by modified FCC slags was also inves-tigated.It is found that B-acid center and L-acid center are on the surface of the modified FCC slags,they all catalyze the isomerization.The reaction was mainly effected by Si/Al ratio in the modified FCC slags and reaction solvents.How to increase the conversion of a-pinene and improve the selectivity of the products is needed intensively explore.
