This thesis reviews the Asclepiadaceae's and Calotropis's chemical composition and pharmacological activities of the literature,in which it is focus of attention that cardiac glycosides present the antitumor activity,especially.this paper mainly studied the Calotropis gigantean's chemical composition and antimicrobial activity and antitumor activity.An object consists of two parts:1.Four cardiac glycosides were isolated from the ethanol extract of Calotropis gigantean.And their chemical structures were identified through nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy?NMR?andhigh resolution mass spectrometer?HR-ESI-MS?methods.And their antitumor activities were evaluated against five kinds of tumor cells by MTT method.The results showed that the cardiac glycosides exhibited excellent cytotoxic activity,Compound 1 presented the highest antitumor activity against A549 lung adenocarcinoma cancer cells,with IC50 at 0.122 ug/mL,and compound 3 showed the excellent cytotoxic activity against BEL-7402 human liver cells,with IC50 at 0.155 ug/mL.Non cardiac glycosides showed weakness antitumor activity.2.The root,stem,flower and fruit of Calotropis gigantean were extracted by Soxhlet extraction method with four different solvents,including petroleum ether,chloroform,ethyl acetate and methyl alcohol.The antifungal and antimicrobial activities were evaluated against 13 tested fungi and bacteria using disc agar diffusion method.The results showed that each petroleum ether extracts of Calotropis gigantean exhibited excellent antimicrobial activities separately.
