In the 21 st century,the environmental issues and energy shortage are the two major problems for us human beings.Photocatalytic technology provides an efficient way to solve above mentioned issues only with the help of sunlight.Due to the merits it possessed,many researchers paid their attention on this field.The traditional metal oxides,because of its non-toxic and large quantities,are considered as ideal semiconductor photocatalysts.However,the broad band gap limits its extensive application in semiconductor photocatalysis technology.Therefore,developing modified metal oxide photocatalysts with high quantum efficiency,which can use sunlight directly,is of great significance.To solve above problems,the research work has been divided into the following five parts: Firstly,we introduced the research backgrounds and photocatalytic reaction mechanism.The preparation methods of photocatalyts and the development of semiconductor photocatalysis materials are summarized in detail.Secondly,Synthesis and Characterization of Ni Doped SnO2 Microspheres with Enhanced Visible-light Photocatalytic Activity.All samples prepared with different Sn/Ni ratios shows higher photocatalytic activity than that of pure SnO2 and pure NiO under visible light irradiation.Next,highly uniform Bi3NbO7 porous nanosheets had been successfully synthesized by a simple and direct solvothermal route with the assistance of urea and adjusting the pH values.The prepared Bi3NbO7 nanosheets exhibit nanoporous structures and a high photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation,which might give the main credit to novel porous architecture and the higher surface energy of {001} facets.Furthermore,sythetic Ca-Bi-O catalyst showed a better activity in degradation of MB and acetaldehyde than that of P25.The preparing temperature played a key role in their photocatalytic activities.Finally,the research results are summarized.The prospective developments and the application scope were also forecasted.
