The surface modification of soy protein isolate(SPI)and the use of modified soy protein isolate as reinforcing filler replaced carbon black in rubber composites were studied.Using soy protein isolate as main raw material, the hydrophobic monomer GMA was grafted onto soy protein isolate(SPI).For effect of different reaction conditions on grafted SPI,reaction time, addition of monomer and reaction temperature were studied and the optimal reaction conditions were determined, that is,the optimal reactions were 4g SPI,50%GMA(by SPI weight),3h of reaction time and 80? reaction temperature. The structure of the product was observed by FTIR,SEM,X-ray and TG.The modified soy protein isolate as reinforcement filler of rubber replaced partly carbon black and changed its shares.Through researching the mechanical properties, dynamic property and thermalstability of composite, the results showed that when using modified SPI with 3-5 shares as reinforcement filler, the mechanical properties were improved, however, when the filler was continuously increased, the mechanical properties were decreased. With the different fillers and the modified SPI of different contents filled, the hysteresis loss was hardly affected.Compared to the thermalstability of composites with adding different fillers, the results showed that the thermalstability of composite was better than carbon black, silica and calcium carbonate separately filled when the modified SPI was filled. And when the content of modified SPI was increased, the thermalstability of composite was also enhanced. But the coupling agent made the thermalstability decreased.Further research on the water absorption of composites, the results indicated that the water absorption of composites was enhanced when modified soy protein isolate was added, and the water of composites was obviously increased when the share of modified soy protein isolate was added. The effects of coupling agents KH-550,KH-570,Si-69 and NDZ-201 on the structure and properties of the composites were studied. The results showed that,KH-550 had good effect on enhancing the overall properties of the composites.Further research on the dosage of KH-550,the results indicated that, the composites achieved excellent properties when the dosage of KH-550 was 1.5-2 shares.
