Porous titanium is a new type of function material,combining the characteristics of titanium and foam metal.Because of its excellent mechanical properties,corrosion resistance,biocompatibility and unique porous structure,porous titanium is widely used in biomedicine,pharmaceutical production and food production.From the current state of development,the study of porous titanium is focused on the field of biomedical.These methods remaine at the stage of laboratory,it is necessary to perform deep researchs and expanding experiments before industrial application.Therefore,it is important to study the preparation of porous titanium systematically.Production of porous titanium using magnesium particle as space holder.Porous titanium have porosity in the range 35%-75%and open porosity of 95%.The compressive strength and elastic modulus are up to 126 MPa and 1.18 GPa.The research studied differentprocess parameters and results obtained as follows:Firstly,in the process of compacting,the preform improves the formability by using magnesium on account of its good plastic.In order to improve the uniformity of mixing and promote forming blocks,the reseach choosed anhydrous ethanol as plasticizer.When magnesium powder volume fraction from 30 vol%to 80 vol%,the relative density varied from 82%to 98%.Secondly,the relation between vacuum and distillation temperature have been studied.Using ICP-MS analyzed the residue of magnesium in block and XRD analyzed phase of preform after distilling,the result came that:the porous titanium in distillation distillation temperature of 750 ℃ for 20 min,magnesium can quickly evaporate.Porous titanium’s oxidation degreee is lower under the continuous vacuum than in argon atmosphere by studying different sintering atmosphere.Thirdly,using vacuum sintering,with the increase of sintering temperature(1050℃-1250℃),the porosity of porous titanium decreases from 76.2%to 61.3%,open porosity decreases from 99.3%to 89.5%.The line shrinkage,compressive strength and elastic modulus are increased.When sintering time increases from 120 min and 300 min at 1150℃,the porosity of porous reduces from 63.7%to 55.1%,open porosity reduces from 95.6%to 94.6%.The line shrinkage,compressive strength elastic modulus are increased.Finally,the porosity of the porous titanium increases with the increase of volume fraction of magnesium powder and magnesium particle.Magnesium particles have greater influence on porosity of porous titanium.The pressure has little effect on the porosity of porous titanium.The line shrinkage of porous titanium increases with the increase of volume fraction of magnesium powder and pressure.Magnesium particles have little influence on line shrinkage.The compressive strength and elastic modulus decrease with increase of magnesium powder and magnesium particle.Porous titanium has porosity in the range 35%-75%and compressive strength and elastic modulus are up to 126 MPa and 1.18 GPa by changing volume fraction of magnesium powder and magnesium particle.
