Metal-oxygen clusters are one of the research hotspots in the field of coordination chemistry not only because of their unique aesthetic structure but also their practical value of application in many fields.People have a keen interest in the combination of two or more different types of metals in one complex. In this paper,we prepared seven ternary and a quaternary icosanuclear spherical heteropolymetallic clusters containing up to three metallic elements by one-pot reaction using copper acetate, cobalt acetate, nickel acetate, zinc acetate and organic amines(triethylamine or isopropylamine)in the organic phase:Cu10.19Ni4.91Co4.90(Al),Cu11.21Ni5.31Co3.48(A2),Cu9.91Ni6.23C03.87(A3),Cu11.29Ni8.02Zno.69(A4),Cu10.13Ni8.77Zn1.10(A5),CU10.49Co8.76Zn0.75(A6),Cu10.67Co8.14Zn1.19(A7),Cu10.57Ni5.63C03.13Zno.67(A8).Moreover,two ten-nuclearity clusters Cu9.5Co0.5(B1)and Cu9,8Co0,2(B2)were prepared by one-pot reaction using copper acetate, cobalt acetate and potassium antimony tartrate in the aqueous phase.Since the above prepared compounds have a highly symmetrical geometry, and the relative atomic masses of Cu,Co,Ni and Zn are close to each other. It is difficult to accurately determine the specific location and number of Cu,Co,Ni and Zn in the structure. On the basis of obtaining the structure of the compounds, several other tests are used to prove and confirm the proportion of metal in the above several complexes. In view of the fact that the current research on heteropolymetallic clusters is relativelyless. The rationally designing the synthesis of heteropolymetallic clusters is still a huge challenge for inorganic chemists. This article discussed simplely about the synthesis method for the self-assembly of several synthesized compounds. The above ten compounds were synthesized using one-pot reaction.A1-A8 were prepared in the organic phase at room temperature. No carbonate was added throughout the experiment, but the CO3 2-was found in the product, which may benefit from high concentration of amines and an open reaction system.Carbon dioxide from the air was absorbed by strong alkaline solutions and converted to CO3 2-,serving as a templating agent for building the entire cluster. Moreover, the small amount of water added during the experiment was also crucial for the formation of the products. That is,no products would be obtaind without the participation of water.B1 and B2 were prepared in the aqueous phase and their synthesis condition was simple and mild.In conclusion, the successful synthes is of these compounds provides a valuable synthes is strategy for the preparation of heteropolymetallic clusters.
