?Objectives?To establish and develop a method for sampling the methyl isoamyl etone(MIAK)in the air of workplace air by the tube-type passive sampler and nalyzing it by gas chromatography(GC).A series of experiments should be taken to examine whether the capacity of the method can meet the criteria and demands for application.?Methods?The tube-type passive samplers should be modified first.The samples were collected through charcoal adsorbent,desorbed with carbon disulfide,separated by FFAP capillary column,and then determinated by GC with a flame ionization detector(FID).The retention times were used for qualitative analysis and the peak area was used for quantification analysis.The functional evaluation was exhibited as below.?Results?The results are listed to exhibit the functional evaluation of the tube-type gas passive samplers:1.The desorption efficiency of the methyl isoamyl ketone was 95.91%,exceeded75%,which met the requirements of The Determination Method of Chemical Substances in Workplace Air in GBZ/T210.4-2008.2.The sampling rate of the passive samplers for the methyl isoamyl ketone was43.58±0.75 ml/min,exceeded 25ml/min3.The breakthrough volume of the tube-type passive samplers for the methyl isoamyl ketone was 47.51mg,and the sampling time should be at least 30 minutes.4.The sampling range of the tube-type passive samplers for the methyl isoamyl ketone was(125-1250)mg/m~3 while the OSHA PEL was 234 mg/m~3,which met the requirements of The Determination Method of Chemical Substances in Workplace Air in GBZ/T210.4-2008.5.To evaluate the shlef life,the result of comparing among the amount of methyl isoamyl ketone sampled by passive samplers was P>0.05,which shows no statistically significance.Samplers can remain stable within 30d after assembled.6.The storage efficiency of the tube-type passive samplers for the methyl isoamyl ketone was P>0.05,which refers,before being determined by GC,the samplers were stable within 14days after sampling at room temperature.7.For precision,the relative standard deviation(RSD)of the tube-type passive sampler was less than 10%,which met the requirements of The Determination Method of Chemical Substances in Workplace Air in GBZ/T210.4-2008.8.While the air velocity was 50-600cm/s,the temperature was 10-40?and the humidity was 20%-80%,the result of comparing among the amount was P>0.05,which shows no statistically significance.?Conclusions?1.A method for determination of the methyl isoamyl ketone(MIAK)in the air of workplace by gas chromatography(GC)analysis was studied and established.2.The method exhibited easy operation,good precision and accuracy.The results were reliable.The method met the requirements of The Determination Method of Chemical Substances in Workplace Air in GBZ/T210.4-2008,and can be used to determine MIAK in the air of workplace.
