Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIFs),as a sort of Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs),have shown the possible application in gas storage,molecular separation,chemical sensors and catalysis due to their high surface area and tunable and modifiable structures.As one of the most robust structure of ZIFs,ZIF-8 is hydrophobic and lipophilic,therefore,to be served as the ideal material for cleaning the water-bodies polluted by lipophilic organic compounds.However,ZIF-8 is microporous MOF which only allow small molecules adsorbed and hence limits its application for adsorption of large molecules.An IPD-mesoMOF based on ZIF-8 includes both micro-and mesopores should has a promising adsorbent for lipophilic organic compounds in aqueous solution.A series of IPD-mesoMOFs based on various MOF-types have been synthesized previously by others.Utilizing this strategy,the IPD-mesoMOF based on ZIF-8(nominated as IPD-mesoMOF-12)has been achieved in this thesis,and using IPD-mesoMOF-12,the removal of aliphatic alcohols from aqueous solution has been studied.The thesis includes three parts as follows:1.Synthesis and characterization of IPD-mesoMOF-12: IPD-mesoMOF-12 was characterized via X-ray powder diffraction(PXRD),scanning electron microscope(SEM),infrared radiation(IR),thermogravimetric analysis(TG)and Nitrogen adsorption.2.Investigation on adsorption properties of IPD-mesoMOF-12 for various aliphatic alcohols in aqueous solution,such as,the mechanism and kinetics of the adsorption.
