In recent years,with people's intense attention to society,the environment,and their own health,there has been growing concern about heavy metal ions that can cause physical harm.Mercury ions,as a toxic heavy metal ion,are widely found in a variety of environmental systems.It can accumulate in the human body through water,food,medicine,etc.,and cause damage to human health.Currently,most of the methods that can detect mercury ions in society have the disadvantages of complicated instrument operation,cumbersome sample processing,and high price.This urgently requires the development of a simple and sensitive detection method for mercury ions.The discovery of graphene as a kind of zero bandgap energy material opens a new window for today's society.As an opened-bandgap derivative,graphene oxide has broadly enriched graphene's optical properties and expanded its applications on sensing and imaging.In particular,its localized ?-conjugated structure has been beneficial for construction of luminescent carbon materials.Graphene oxide can be combined with a large variety of organic molecules and biomolecules,which in turn facilitates the preparation of nano-detection probes that respond to different substances.In this article,we have summarized and analyzed the results of previous studies,we propose a new method for preparing luminescent graphene oxide.Different graphene oxide nanosheets prepared by Hummer's method and piranha solution,Which can emit a variety of fluorescence under the same excitation light.Through a series of technical characterization,clarify its internal causes and external manifestations.The next bio-imaging experiments show that graphene oxide has many excellent properties.For example,good biocompatibility,low biological toxicity,good fluorescence imaging stability,low background noise and so on.Finally,the large conjugated structure of the luminescent graphene oxide nanosheets is easy to combine with organic molecules,and this organic molecule can be specifically complexed with mercury ions to prepare a detection probe that is specific and sensitive to mercury ions.
