In this paper,a guar gum modified adhesive was prepared by oxidation,coupling and graft modification reaction.The prepared adhesive was characterized and further applied for wall covering composition and printing adhesive.Firstly,hydrogen peroxide(H2O2),silane coupling agent KH570,butyl acrylate(BA)and glycidyl methacrylate(GMA)were used to modify guar gum.The optimized preparation parameters was selected by evaluating the peel strength of two layers cotton fabrics sticked with prepared adhesive and the viscosity of prepared adhesive.The results showed that the peeling strength of the prepared modified guar gum can achieve 25.33 N under the optimal conditons,and the prepared adhesive also showed good water resistance and qualified centrifugal and ion stability.The test of FT-IR,XRD and TG showed that the modified guar gum had been successfully prepared.Secondly,the self-made adhesive was applied onto composition of different wall covering substrates.In this paper,cotton,silk,polyester fabrics were chosen as surface cloth,polyester non-woven fabric as substrate.The optimum process for preparation of composite wall coverings was determined according to peeling strength.Water resistance of three kinds of composite wall coverings were also tested and compared with commercial glutinous rice glue.The results showed that the self-made adhesive has better water resistance when compared with glutinous rice glue.The self-made adhesive was used as binder of printing using disperse dye ink on polyester fabric by the procedure of magnet printing and drying and curing.The optimum printing process were determined according to K/S value and color fastness.The concentration of disperse dye is below 3%(wt%),the concentration of thickening agent was 2%(wt%),dosage of binder is 12%(wt%),curing temperature was 170 ℃,curing time was 2 min.The colorfastness to washing and crocking of the prepared printing polyester fabrics can reach level 4 or above,K/S value was 7.27.The breaking strength and air permeability of the printed fabric decreased to a certain extent with no negative effect on application performance.In order to further study the printing performance of the self-made adhesive,it is used for pigment printing paste on cotton fabric.The results showed that printed cotton fabric under the optimal process exhibited good color fastness to washing.While wet rubbing fastness was worse than previous fabric,the K/S value is 3.50.The prepared adhesive is better applied to pigment printing fabric for pale color than dark ones.Water resistance is better but under wet conditions the strength of the film will decrease to some extent;the permeability and breaking strength of the printed coton fabric decreased more than those of printed polyester fabrics.
