In the field of color science, spectral color printing and reproduction technology is the focus of research both at home and abroad. In this paper, the research on spectral prediction technology of halftone prints primary ink is the key to realize the spectral replication of printed manuscripts. In the spectral color reproduction of the printed manuscript, the premise is to confirm the number and the composition of the primary ink used in the manuscript. If the composition of primary ink used in the manuscript is not clear, and the same color reproduction effect of the printed image is wanted to obtain,it is particularly important to realize the spectral prediction technology of the primary ink in printed manuscripts. However,in the study of spectral prediction of primary ink for halftone prints, there are not many kinds of spectral prediction algorithms, and they are not mature. The existing spectral prediction algorithms have many disadvantages, and can not accurately predict the reduction of their ink spectral curves. So it is still necessary to study the algorithms for spectral prediction of primary inks in printed matter. In the paper, the study aims at the above problems.Firstly, the subtractive linear experience space model and the space transformation model were established which were suitable for primary ink spatial prediction in prints, and innovatively, the method of optimizing n value was used to determine the best linear space,In the newly constructed space, when the principal component analysis(PCA)is used to predict the number of the original color ink,the number of representative base vectors that are obtained is exactly equal to the actual number of primal inks used; Then, innovatively,on the basis of non-negative matrix factorization algorithm and combining with the optical characteristics of printed manuscript,a new prediction algorithm for ink spectrum based on NMF was proposed, which was named as ISPNMF.And an optimized algorithm for spectral prediction of black ink was also proposed innovatively. The algorithm of ISPNMF overcomes the shortcomings of the basic non negative matrix factorization with multiple optimal solutions and local minimum values, and achieves the only global optimal solution of the prediction algorithm. The optimization algorithm of black ink prediction spectrum overcomes the interference caused by the mixed absorption of color ink to black ink prediction. The spectral curve of the optimized result is approximated to the actual black ink;Next, all kinds of ink spectral dat a were collected, and ink spectral database was established to match the best ink combination.Lastly, innovatively,a graphical user interface based on MATLAB/GUI was designed that can predict the number and spectrum of primary ink in the printed manuscripts and automatically match the optimum ink combination. The study of this paper lays a solid foundation for the realization of spectral color reproduction technology of halftone printed manuscripts. It is not only helpful to realize the high fidelity printing, but also provides theoretical reference and technical guidance for the spectral prediction of other pigments.
