The Study Of Male Head-pinned Flowers In Song Dynasty

Male head-pinned flower was refered to the use of flowers or flower-like cuts in hairpins,horns,or crowns of man.This was a unique phenomena in the Song dynasty.Male head-pinned flower in Song Dynasty were a kind of phenomenon that straddled the class,the rich and the poor,and the age.It is influenced by social politics,economy,and humanities,and it also affects all aspects of society.It was recorded in a lot of historical documents in Song Dynasty and also found poetries in Song dynasty.In recent years,it has been noticed by a part of scholars who have done some work on this theme,however,most of them concentrated on the etiquette system and custom,there was no scholar who conducted related research from the perspective of fine arts.Therefore,the author started from this perspective and hoped to research the phenomenon of male head-pinned flower in the Song Dynasty through the artwork of this subject,and thus reveal the social value and significance behind the work.In this paper,the study was conducted on the male head-pinned flower in the Song Dynasty and discussed from the introduction,the text and the conclusion.This articlecon consist of three parts including introduction,main body and conclusion.The first part is introduction,expounding the theme concept,research status,purpose and significance of this research.The second part is the main text,including four chapters.The first chapter collated the formation and thrive of the custom of male head-pinned flower in the Song Dynasty and put emphasis on the reason for the prosperity.The second chapter categorized and analysed the figure of male head-pinned flowers in the Song Dynasty.It included scrolls,prints,murals,sculptures and other art expressions involving varied social groups and scenes which reflected the scene at that time thoroughly.The third chapter discussed the significance that revealed by the male head-pinned flowers in the Song Dynasty.In this section,it restored the actual social style and features,the cultural shift of the aesthetic concept,the story and emotions behind the male head-pinned flowers in the Song Dynasty and the figure above the artistic works itself.The fourth chapter compared the difference of male and female head-pinned flowers from the aspect of reason and style.It was considered that the female head-pinned flower was relatively simple compared with that of women’s which mostly valued the aesthetic,male head-pinned flower often emphasized the additional value more apart from the consideration of the aesthetic when designed.The third part is the conclusion.This article believed that the male head-pinned flower in Song Dynasty were not only a unique phenomenon,but also had a great influence on the Song dynasty’s thought,culture and economy.This universal phenomenon was a pursuit of freedom and equality at that time.It showed that Song people’s aesthetic concept of "using vulgar as beauty",and also conveyed the spirit of the times.This thesis focused on the works of art and used literature analysis and image methods to achieve a new perspective of the study.To a certain extent,we have known the men of the Song Dynasty from visual aspects.At the same time,the combination of the texts and the pictures showed the special but actually existing images by using of historical documents.
