China is in the period of rapid economic development, during which,a series of environmental problems are caused hereby, especially the unexpected pollution events of water source and water body. Some water pollution events even affect the water supply safety and cause health risks at different degrees to the public. The current judgment criterion of China to determine whether the drinking water is safe is Standards for Drinking Water Quality(GB 5749-2006).However,this standard is the standard limit value determined by the lifelong exposure health risk and does not distinguish the health risks of different exposure duration. The research on the health risks of short-term exposure of pollutants in drinking water is of great significance to the risk assessment, emergency management and control and disposal of unexpected pollution events. This study takes the common pollutant as the research object to conduct health risk research of short-term exposure to antimony in the drinking water and determine the Short-term Health Advisory Reference Level. In the review of the drinking water pollution event in recent years,it found that the unexpected pollution events within 10 days can be disposed validly. Therefore, the exposure duration of Short-term Health Advisory Reference Level was set as 10 days. The Short-term Health Advisory Reference Level(short-term HARL)took the sensitive groups(children)as the protected objects. This research includes three steps, namely, data collection, selection of points of departure and deduction of Short-term Health Advisory Reference Level.First of all,we should comprehensively, objectively and widely collect data.Due to the lack of human short-term epidemiological data about antimony,we took animal experimental data as the research basis.Through the summary of physical and chemical properties of antimony, toxicokinetics and the health effects of different exposure duration and exposure paths and according to the principles of reliability, correlation and sufficiency,we decided to take 90 days rat experiment of Poon et al,NTP 14 days rat experiment and lifelong rat experiment of Schroeder et al as the important experiment data, and according to the dose-response relationship in document literatures,we decided to conduct the verification experiment design of short-term exposure health effects to verify the change of thyroid hormone.Through the verification experiment,we found that there was a Dose-response Relationship between the changes of thyroid hormones. Therefore, the NOAEL was 0.35 mg/kg/day according to the change of thyroid hormone as the end of health effect.According to the deduction formula of Short-term Health Advisory Reference Level, the Uncertainty Factor of this study was 100(10 between species,10 within the species),the Body Weight(BW)of children was 10 kg and Daily Water Intake was 1 L,and the obtained reference value of 10-day Health Advisory Reference Level for the sensitive groups was 0.035 mg/L.Based on this study,in the event of an unexpected drinking water pollution event,if the concentration of antimony in drinking water is not higher than 0.035 mg/L,and the exposure time is within 10 days,it is deemed that the exposure dose and duration shall not cause adverse health effect, which provides technical support for the environmental risk evaluation and adoption of scientific emergency disposal measures of the drinking water pollution event.Because this study is an exploratory study to determine the short-term exposure health risk of antimony, there are some limitations, and we should attach importance to the collection of human epidemiological data...
