Vibration cutting is a complex nonlinear deformation process,and it is more difficult to analyze the mechanism of vibration cutting by using the traditional research methods.With the development of computer technology,the advantage of finite element simulation analysis is becoming more and more prominent.It has advantages of good inheritance,good systemic and it is not limited by time and space,etc.Besides,the cutting force,cutting temperature,stress and strain of cutting process are all based on the chip formation process.There is no doubt that these quantities have a close relationship with cutting deformation zone.Thus,finite element method with theoretical and experimental studies is used to analyze relative changes of the deformation area,which seizes the essence of the problem and has profound significance for the study of vibration cutting mechanism.Theoretical analysis is used in cutting deformation zone of stress wave propagation through the existing theory of stress wave and metal cutting.The law changes of relationship between the impact velocity of vibration cutting tool and stress in deformation zone,and the reason of the advanced micro damage of workpiece material in vibration cutting are given.The microscopic mechanism of vibration cutting is explained.The finite element model of vibration cutting plastic material and brittle material is established by using finite element analysis software(ABAQUS).Then,the cutting process is simulated.Relative variation rules of temperature,strain,the cutting force and stress in deformation zone are given and compare with simulation result of ordinary cutting.It is showed the vibration cutting can realize the advanced micro damage of workpiece material.An ultrasonic vibration turning test system is designed and established,and experiment of turning plastic material and brittle material is conducted.Cutting force changing laws are given by comparison with experimental result of ordinary turning.At last,vibration cutting dynamic impact test platform is set up and the simulation is carried out.According to the microscopic observation of the specimens,it's proved vibration cutting can realize the advanced micro damage of material.The correctness of above simulation analysis is verified.
