Objectives:The objective of our study was to measure indexes related to muscle assessment in the young and middle-aged groups before and after regular fitness exercise intervention,to explore the differences between the indicators of the youth group and middle-aged group, and to analyze the effect of exercise on the muscles of young and middle-aged groups. So that we can provide a basis for finding an effective and economical intervention method to prevent muscle loss, increase muscle mass, maintain the function of muscle, reduce body fat,and improve physical fitness.Methods:70 new female members of Kunming Leku Gymnasium between December 1,2017 and December 31,2017 were included in this study. The height, skeletal muscle mass, muscle strength,6m pace, body weight, and BMI of members in both young group and middle-aged group were measured before and after regular exercise.Statistical analyses were performed to found the indicators with statistic difference.Results:1.The all skeletal extremities muscle mass(ASM),skeletal muscle i ndex(SMI),pace, and grip strength in the youth group were superior to thos e in the middle-aged group before regular fitness exercise;2.The ASM,SMI,pace, and grip strength increased in both groups after regular fitness exercise i ntervention,ASM increased from 17.81 ± 1.01kg to 18.31 ± 1.30kg,the SMI incre ased from 6.90±0.24kg/m2 to 7.09±0.25kg/m2,the pace increased from 1.24±0.12m/s to 1.26±0.13m/s,and the grip strength increased from 32.16±4.92kg to 33.83±5.36kg in the young group.Meanwhile,In the middle-aged group,ASM inc reased from 16.92±0.88kg to 17.25±0.95kg,the SMI increased from 6.71 ±0.29k g/m2 to 6.84±0.30kg/m2,the pace increased from 1.02±0.12m/s to 1.07±0.12m/s,and the grip strength increased from 26.01 ±2.13kg to 29.02±2.43kg(P<0.05).3.The body weight and BMI decreased in both groups. The weight of the youn g group decreased from 51.71 ±5.28 kg to 50.30±4.57 kg,and the BMI decreas ed from 20.06±2.16 kg/m2 to 19.54± 1.51 kg/m2.In the middle-aged group, the weight decreased from 52.80±4.48kg to 51.47±4.18kg,BMI decreased from 20.95± 1.67 kg/m2 to 20.43±1.50 kg/m2(P<0.001).4.ASM and SMI of youth group changed more than the middle-aged group after the regular fitness exercise int ervention(P<0.05),while the middle-aged group had a larger change in terms of pace and grip strength(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in body weight and BMI(P>0.05)Conclusions:1.The muscle mass, grip strength and pace of the middle-aged group showed a downward comparing with the young group.2.The muscle mass, muscle strength and pace increased in both groups after regular fitness exercise intervention, while the body weight decreased.3.After the intervention of regular fitness exercise, the muscle mass of the youth group increased more significantly, while the grip strength and pace of the middle-aged group increased more significantly.4.It is recommended that we should adhere to regular exercise throughout our lives regardless of our ages.Regular exercise during young age can accumulate more muscle mass to cope with the inevitable decrease in muscle mass that occurs with age. While during old age,the regular exercise can maintain muscle mass at a certain level,so as to prevent the occurrence of sarcopenia.
